Purpose: The Chrism Mass is a solemn liturgy where the holy oils (Oil of Catechumens, Oil of the Sick, and Sacred Chrism) used in sacraments and rituals throughout the year are blessed or consecrated by the bishop. Renewal of Commitment: During the mass, priests also renew their commitment to priestly service to the bishop and the people of God.
